ROMFORD MAZDA SUPPORTS LOCAL CHARITY BALL

ROMFORD MAZDA SUPPORTS LOCAL CHARITY BALL

Almost £15,000 has been raised for cancer charities with the help of Romford Mazda, the longest established Mazda outlet in Essex.  The Collier Row-based dealership played a big part in the recent 'Pink About It Charity Ball', attended by more than 350 guests at Brentwood's Frierns Manor in February.

Romford Mazda donated a tempting prize for the fundraising prize draw – the use of a sporty Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe for a weekend.

"We were pleased to help and get involved in our local community," explains Romford Mazda dealer principal Amarjit Shokar.  "Especially because these charities are close to our hearts.  My grandmother died from cancer so we are always glad to support events like this."

An auction of two Mazda MX-5 branded iPods, donated by Mazda Motors UK, raised £240.  The total funds were boosted by a 'dress-down day' at Mazda Motors UK, held prior to the ball, which raised £230 and was doubled when the company matched the donations made by Mazda staff.

Not surprisingly, Romford Mazda's prize loan of a Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe proved highly appealing.  The iconic Mazda MX-5 is Britain's favourite sports car and the third-generation model is available in soft-top or Roadster Coupe versions from just £15,730 on the road.  The latest body styling is more athletic and aggressive, and there are larger alloy wheels, more powerful engines and twin exhaust tailpipes.  A choice of two four-cylinder petrol engines – a 1.8-litre or a 2.0-litre unit – is available, together with 5-speed or 6-speed gearbox, as well as a range of individual options and accessories for owners to personalise their model of this iconic sports car.

One of the charities to benefit from the event is the St Francis Hospice, in Havering-atte-Bower.  The hospice looks after more than 1,600 patients and their families each year.  It offers specialist care for patients who have cancer or other life-limiting illnesses.  Around 750,000 people in the Havering, Dagenham, Redbridge and Brentwood areas are eligible for help from the charity, which costs nearly £5 million a year to run.

The other organisation to benefit is Walk the Walk, a charity that promotes a healthy and fit lifestyle and at the same time raises significant funds for breast cancer research and care.

The Pink About It Ball was organised by local charity activists Patricia Trew and Shoshana Reid, with the help of Kerrie Champman from Mazda Motors UK, and supported by Romford Mazda.  Guests who attended the ball were treated to champagne as well as a four-course meal.

Mazda3 Diesel

ALL THE PERKS AT Romford Mazda

Romford Mazda is introducing an exciting new high power 143ps diesel version of the popular Mazda3 to Romford motorists that manages to combine the perks of exciting sports car performance with excellent economy.

The turbocharged and intercooled, 2.0-litre diesel version of the Mazda3 is the most powerful diesel in its class with 360Nm of torque.  This powers the hatchback to 62mph in just 9.9 seconds and to a refined top speed of 126mph.  Despite this immense power, the Collier Row Lane  Romford Mazda dealer is keen to promote the fuel efficiency of the new car.

"Mazda has proved that excellent levels of torque can also be efficient if engineered correctly," commented Amarjit Shokar, dealer principal.  "The new 2.0-litre diesel Mazda3 has combined fuel economy of over 47mpg and one of the lowest CO2 emissions figures in its class."

Priced from £16,735 (on-the-road) and available in two trim levels, TS2 and Sport, the six‑speed 2.0i Mazda3 diesel is set to boost sales of this car, already the Japanese brand's best selling model.  Last year the 1 millionth Mazda3 was produced, in the same year as the company reported record sales and profits.

Building on the popularity of the Mazda3 and reinforcing Mazda's position as Britain's favourite sports car brand, the company has introduced a special 'Sports Aero Kit' especially for the UK.  This kit will be available on the Mazda3 MPS super-hatch, adding sport's car styling to its class leading performance.

The 2.3-litre turbo-charged Mazda3 MPS model can be ordered online (www.mazda3mpsonlineorder.co.uk) or from Romford Mazda with the Sports Aero kit for a premium of just £500 over the regular Mazda3 MPS.  Included in the Zoom-Zoom upgrade is a large sports spoiler, Eibach lowered suspension and sports door mirrors, all contributing to the car's sporty styling.

The recently launched Mazda3 MPS 'super-hatch' has broken away from the hot-hatch pack boasting the most powerful engine (260ps) and a blistering 0-62mph time of just 6.1 seconds.  The Mazda3 was one of the best selling models in the UK last year for the Japanese brand and now, Romford motorists can benefit from 0% hire purchase (up to 3 years with 50% deposit) or 4.9% MultiOption (up tp 3 years) - standard Mazda3 only.

These great finance deals are also available on the standard versions of the larger Mazda6, the Mazda5 and sporty Mazda MX-5 soft-top.  The Mazda MX-5 is the world's best selling roadster and was recently joined in the line-up by the Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe.  The Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe's powered retractable hard-top operates in just 12 seconds – the fastest in the world – adding further refinement to the iconic sports car.

As Britain's favourite sports car brand, Mazda tops the sales charts for sports cars in the UK.  The revolutionary Mazda RX-8 is available at Romford Mazda with 0% HP up to 36 months (30% deposit).  The sports focus does not end there, the Collier Row Lane dealer is extending the 0% hire purchase (50% deposit) and 4.9% MultiOption offers to the turbocharged Mazda6 MPS.  This all-wheel drive, high-performance version of the Mazda6 saloon reaches an electronically limited 155mph and sprints from 0-62mph in just 6.6 seconds.

Catering for every budget, the Romford dealer is continuing the popular £720 saving on the entry level Mazda2 S.  Known for its practicality, comfort and reliability, the Mazda2 is priced from £7,995 on-the-road and is available from Motability with nil-advanced payment, as are the Mazda6 TS hatchback and estate.

MX-5 Niseko

SPECIAL 'MAZDA MX-5 NISEKO' BRIGHTENS WINTER GLOOM

The latest Mazda MX-5 can truly be described as an all-weather, all-year sports car with its enhanced heating and air-conditioning systems.  Now, to celebrate its continuing status as 'Britain's favourite sports car brand' this winter, Mazda is introducing a pair of special edition 'Niseko' models, named after Japan's most prestigious skiing resort.

As the latest edition of the world's best selling roadster, the rear-wheel drive Mazda MX-5 Niseko boasts unrivalled handling and driving dynamics, and represents extremely competitive value for money.  Available from £17,995 on-the-road, the Niseko offers up to £2,000 worth of additional or exclusive extras over and above the equivalent standard models.

On sale from 1 January 2008, both the 'entry-level' 1.8i Niseko soft-top (126ps, five-speed) and the £19,995 2.0i Niseko roadster coupe (160ps, six‑speed) are available in an exclusive new bespoke colour 'Icy Blue' metallic, as well as Sunlight Silver metallic – for no additional charge.

"Mazda MX-5 customers have traditionally given a warm welcome to each new 'special edition' model introduced during our roadster's 18 year history," commented Mark Cameron, Mazda UK marketing director.  "Now, for the first time with the Niseko, we are offering a 'special' model in both soft-top and roadster coupe forms and with co-ordinated brown leather seats and interior trim.  Personally, I think the new 'Icy Blue' colour is going to appeal particularly to women buyers, although since launch the third generation Mazda MX-5 has achieved a 50/50, male/female sales mix as predicted.

"Traditionally, MX-5 buyers spend more on accessories and do more to individualise their cars, than other Mazda owners.  Although the majority of those buyers use their MX-5s all-year-round, the peak ordering period is from February through to May, so the introduction of Niseko in January will boost sales at the back end of winter and give us a head-start for a spring sales boom," added Cameron.

Mazda2 3 Door

NEW MAZDA2 THREE-DOOR TO DEBUT AT GENEVA SHOW

The new Mazda2 three-door hatchback will make its world premiere on Tuesday 4 March at the 78th Salon International de l'Auto de Genève. This is the first time that Mazda has offered a three-door variant in its popular Mazda2 model range. The newcomer will feature all the attributes of the five-door hatchback, but delivering an even sportier feel at a more affordable price.

The new Mazda2 three-door hatchback is designed to attract new customers and boost Mazda's continued growth in the European market. It comes with the same powertrain line-up – the lively and responsive MZR 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines and the MZ-CD 1.4-litre turbo diesel – as the five-door hatchback. These engines achieve high fuel efficiency together with particularly low CO2 emissions.

The three-door Mazda2 shares the same overall dimensions as the five-door and achieves a similarly modest kerb weight, model for model. The five-door Mazda2 has already demonstrated that by completely redesigning the body and chassis and implementing Mazda's unique 'gram strategy', the brand's small car weight could be reduced to under the 1,000 kilogram threshold. This outstanding result reverses the industry trend towards bigger and heavier cars.

Launched in September 2007 as Mazda's first new-generation Zoom-Zoom vehicle to evolve to the next level, the new Mazda2 was an immediate hit with European customers. In December 2007, it was awarded a 5-Star safety rating by Euro-NCAP and it has won more than 20 automotive awards. These include Car of the Year awards in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Greece and New Zealand, along with the Japan RJC Car of the Year.

The Geneva Show will also witness three Mazda European debuts: the Mazda Taiki concept car, equipped with a next-generation rotary engine, the Mazda5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid and the upgraded Mazda's RX-8 four-seater, four-door sports car.

New Mazda6

The hotly anticipated estate version of the all-new Mazda6 has now arrived at Romford Mazda in Collier Row. In addition, a 140ps 2.0-litre diesel engine has joined the line-up, providing a choice of three engines for the Estate model along with the 2.0-litre 147ps and 2.5-litre 170ps petrol engines. Meanwhile, a 1.8-litre 120ps petrol engine is also available on saloon and hatchback models.

The all-new Mazda6 was introduced at the end of 2007 and is an even more stylish, functional and economical car than its predecessor, which was popular with both families and company car drivers. The arrival of the new estates and diesel versions means there is now a total of 25 models in the Mazda6 range, priced from £15,110 on-the-road, with CO2 emissions from just 147g/km.

"The new Mazda6 has retained and enhanced many of the original model's distinctive design features that set it apart from other vehicles," comments Amarjit Shokar, dealer principal at Romford Mazda. "Not only is this new car one of the most stylish in its class, its performance, practicality and economy figures are amongst the best available."

The new Mazda6 has achieved a weight loss of up to 50kg, despite being even better equipped with enhanced comfort and safety features over its predecessor. Mazda believes that reducing weight and improving the car's fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions should not have a detrimental effect on the car's performance. The new Mazda6 still competes with the best in its class with the 2.5-litre Sport achieving 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 137mph.

The new Mazda6 boasts five equipment levels – S, TS, TS2, Sport and a Sports Luxury 'SL' level. The SL matches the performance of the Sport model but has a more discreet exterior and more luxurious interior, with full leather seats (heated in front), front and rear parking sensors and an electric sunroof

World car of the Year

'WORLD'S BEST CAR' ON SALE AT ROMFORD MAZDA

Romford Mazda in Collier Row is expecting a rush of potential customers looking to buy a Mazda2 supermini this week after the all-new five-door hatchback was voted '2008 World Car of the Year' (WCOTY) by an international jury of 47 automotive writers.

The new Mazda2 was hailed as the 'World's Best Car' at the recent New York International Auto Show when the title-winning Mazda was selected from a list of 39 contenders from across the globe and beat the short-listed Ford Mondeo and Mercedes C-Class to claim the highly-acclaimed WCOTY crown. Previous winners of this coveted award include the Lexus LS460, BMW 3-Series and Audi A6.

"I'm not surprised that the Mazda2 was voted 2008 World Car of the Year," enthused Amaerjit Shokar dealer principal, Romford Mazda. "The new Mazda2 appeals to supermini buyers thanks to its distinctive styling, spacious cabin and excellent driving dynamics. Add in low running costs and low CO2 emissions, acknowledged by receiving the highest WCOTY 'environment' score, and Mazda2 starts to tick all the boxes for small car buyers.

"This highly-acclaimed accolade confirms that Mazda2 is indeed one of the very best cars available in the supermini market."

The all-new Mazda2 went on sale in the UK last September and has already attracted more than 6,000 buyers. Five versions of the five-door hatchback are available with a choice of three petrol and one diesel engine plus three equipment levels – priced from just £8,499 on-the-road for the 1.3-litre, 75ps petrol TS model.

Through innovation and ingenious weight reduction, the new Mazda2 represents a bold break with automotive trends, reversing the spiral of ever increasing weight and size. The Mazda2 now weighs 100kg less than its predecessor and is 40mm shorter. Keeping the car's weight below 1,000kg cuts fuel consumption, allowing the Mazda2 to achieve an impressive 65.7mpg. It also gives this Mazda a CO2 emissions rating starting at just 114g/km, equating to an annual road tax rate of just £35 and complete exemption from London Congestion charging when the proposed changes are introduced later this year.

To find out more, or to arrange a test drive of the 'World's Best Car', call Romford Mazda on 01708 735735 or visit the Collier Row Lane showroom.

Mazda2 NCAP 5 Star

5-STARS FOR NEW MAZDA2 IN LATEST Euro NCAP RATINGS

The all-new Mazda2 supermini has been awarded a 5-Star safety rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) crash tests.

In terms of occupant protection, the new Mazda2 proved itself to be among the safest cars in the small car segment – earning the maximum 5-Stars for adult protection, plus a class-leading 4-Stars for child protection and a competitive 2-Stars for pedestrian protection.

"This is an excellent result for Mazda2, which is now officially one of the safest small cars," commented Rob Lindley, Managing Director Mazda Motors UK.  "Mazda's designers and engineers have demonstrated that lightweight construction, which is so important in cutting fuel consumption and reducing emissions, does not mean having to compromise on strength or safety."

The new Mazda2 weighs under 1,000kg, significantly less than the outgoing model, and its lightweight construction using ultra high-tensile steels, combined with sophisticated aerodynamics, enables the car to achieve reduced CO2 emissions (from 129g/km) and fuel consumption (up to 52.3mpg), while ensuring brisk acceleration and agile handling characteristics.

The three-strong Mazda2 range of petrol models is available in the UK from just £8,499 (on-the-road), with diesel models in showrooms from March 2008.
